Topaq® Pressure Analysis System

Used in conjunction with Pressurex® pressure indicating films, Topaq® provides a quick, yet thorough analysis of the relative pressure distribution and magnitude between any two surfaces that come into contact. This Windows®-based system renders high resolution, color-calibrated images that accurately reflect how force is dispersed in your application. The system consists of a specially calibrated scanner (pictured below) and the Topaq® software.

User-Friendly, Versatile and Informative

While Topaq® is equipped with an extensive array of features; you can perform a simple pressure profile analysis in a matter of minutes. The system makes it extremely easy for an inexperienced user to extract and utilize important pressure imaging information. Simply scan in your exposed pressure indicating film, key in a few input variables, and Topaq® instantly generates full-color pressure maps and accompanying statistical data. Furthermore, Topaq® is accurate to within ± 2%, which is unprecedented in the field of tactile pressure measurement.


From gaskets to flanges, bolted joint analysis to machine calibration, the Topaq® pressure measurement system is the technique preferred by engineers worldwide. The Topaq® system allows the user to perform a multitude of functions including:

3D Interpretation: Topaq® enables you to view, rotate and flip your application image in two or three dimensional space while choosing among four different color palettes. Images can be further enhanced by varying the number of colors displayed and applying a smoothing filter, which allows you to bring out otherwise unseen detail.

Image Zooms: Tire Tread impression is magnified 300% so as to enable a pixel by pixel analysis of its high pressure (red) areas. With Topaq®, images can be expanded or reduced from 25% to 400%. Topaq's manual and autocropping features allow you to quickly slice off extraneous parts of an image, enabling direct focus on a specific region of interest. Furthermore, Topaq® has a proprietary algorithm that can enlarge an image without increasing its graininess.

Pressure Line Scan: One example of Topaq's powerful, single key-stroke functions is the ability to determine the pressure profile along a user-defined line. This line can be reduced to the width of a pixel, or expanded as wide as the image itself. This is a useful tool for assessing the narrow bands of pressure over unusual or intricate shapes. The region statistics tool yields total force, average PSI (or metric Kg/cm²) and standard deviation for the entire image or user-defined region.

Relative Pressure Distribution Histograms: Not only does Topaq® read and interpret pressure, it can also assimilate it in an easy to read format. The Histogram (pictured at left) is a single keystroke generated report that reveals the statistical distribution of pressure levels throughout your image.
